Young Black Cats host Liverpool

Sunderland Under-18s return to home league action on Saturday to face Liverpool in the Premier League (11am).


Liverpool are currently fifth in the U18 Premier League with nine wins, two draws and 10 defeats from 21.

The Reds have just one win in their last seven with recent defeats to Newcastle and Manchester United.

Kieran Morrison is the leading goalscorer for his side with the midfielder grabbing nine goals from 17 fixtures.

Marc Bridge-Wilkinson is the current U18 Manager having taken up the role in May 2020.

Wilkinson made over 400 senior league appearances for the likes of Port Vale, Bradford and Carlise before venturning into coaching with Huddersfield Town.

The 45-year-old is supported by former Liverpool midfielder, Jay Spearing who rejoined the club in June 2022.

Spearing made over 55 appearances for the Premier League side before departing for Bolton Wanderers.

U18 Premier League

Manchester United sit top of the league with just one defeat this campaign. 

Manchester City, Derby County and Wolves make up the top four.

Victory for the Black Cats will see Fin Lynch’s side go level on points with Blackburn who also remain in the bottom three alongside Stoke City.

The Lads have five games remaining including Manchester United, Middlesbrough, Blackburn and Stoke.
