Washington City incident allegedly caused by driver ignoring signals on Telegraph Street – St George News

WASHINGTON CITY — Lunchtime traffic slowed to a crawl on Telegraph Street in Washington City on Tuesday after an alleged red light runner t-boned another vehicle at the Washington Parkway intersection.

Washington City Police Department Lt. Kory Klotz told St. George News that witnesses reported the driver of a white Kia sedan was traveling westbound on Telegraph when the light at the Washington Parkway intersection reportedly turned red.

“The driver of that vehicle ran a red light,” he said.

The Kia then struck a Volkswagen Jetta that was making the turn onto Telegraph from the parkway causing airbags in both vehicles to deploy.

“Occupants in the vehicles were wearing seatbelts and airbags were deployed,” Klotz added. “Both drivers declined medical service after being treated on scene by Gold Cross and Washington City Fire.”

Due to extensive damage, both vehicles were towed from the scene. Klotz said no citations have been issued but the investigation is not yet complete.

The incident transported at approximately 11 a.m. The scene was cleared and traffic was flowing normally by 11:45 p.m.
