Muriel E. Rossmeisl Obituary – Argus Leader

Muriel E. Rossmeisl, age 90, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Prince of Peace in Sioux Falls, SD. She was born on August 11, 1933, to Francis and Dorothy Lamey in Wabasha, MN.

A funeral Mass will be held in Sioux Falls, SD at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1501 W 26th St. with a luncheon and family present following the Mass. Interment will be held at St. Michael Cemetery.

Muriel graduated from St. Felix High School in Wabasha, MN, in June 1951 and was valedictorian of her class. She then moved to Rochester, MN, where she worked as a Medical Secretary at the Mayo Clinic for five years. Later, she moved to Minneapolis in 1954 to work as a secretary at Pillsbury.

She met Robert on a blind date, fell in love and were married on April 12, 1958, in Rochester, MN. They would have celebrated their 60th anniversary before Robert passed in January 2018. The couple lived in Minneapolis and then relocated to Eau Claire, WI for Bob’s job at Firestone. While in Eau Claire they were blessed with their first child, Barbara, in 1960. They moved to Faribault, MN in 1962, again with Bob’s employment at Firestone, where they were blessed with two more children, Susan and Ann. In 1966, they made one final move with Firestone to Sioux Falls, SD where they resided for the remainder of their lives.

In Sioux Falls, Muriel worked at Central Plains Clinic starting in 1977 and worked there for 15 years before retiring. During the winter months, Muriel and Robert would go to Tucson, AZ, where they had a condo with a great view of the Catalina and Rincon Mountains. Those winters were filled with golf, sightseeing, spending time with friends, and visits from family. They enjoyed traveling to Europe, especially Ireland, France, and Germany. Muriel was an avid reader and enjoyed golfing and making beautiful quilts for family. Family and grandchildren were everything to her, and she always made it a point to attend their games and activities.

Grateful to have shared her life are her daughters, Barbara Rossmeisl of Palmdale, CA, Susan Rossmeisl of Eden Prairie, MN, and Ann (Allan) Erickson, of Sioux Falls, SD; sister, Mary (George) Kanz of Cedar Rapids, IA; grandchildren, Carter (Emily), Austin, and Ian.

Muriel was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Rossmeisl; sisters, Beatrice Ahlers, and Allene Harty; brother, Kenneth Lamey.

The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Prince of Peace and Avera Hospice for the exceptional care provided to their mother.
