Car Fire Spreads To Nearby Vehicle, Brush In New Providence

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ — Volunteer firefighters worked hard to extinguish an intense car fire that spread to a nearby car and brush on Tuesday in New Providence.

On April 16 at 9:43 a.m., the New Providence Volunteer Fire Department was alerted by Union County Communications to a vehicle fire at a commercial property in the borough.

“The vehicle fire caused exposure fires to a second vehicle and an area of brush nearby, creating additional exposure issues to other vehicles in the parking area,” said the fire department.

Firefighters stretched a hose line to extinguish the fire and additional personnel helped to mitigate fluid and fuel runoff from the vehicles.

Firefighters were helped on scene by the New Providence Police and New Providence Office of Emergency Management, and Union County Hazmat FMBA Local 99.

The cause of the fire was unable to be determined. There were no reported injuries.
